Mangalore: Just as IGP Alok Mohan (Western Range) took leave on Wednesday (Dec 14) and IGP Pratap Reddy, IPS, moved in to take his place, 3-day sports meet of Home commenced at district police grounds in Pandeshwar, with a Total of 12 events arranged as part of sports meet organised by city Police Commissionerate with Dakshina Kannada district Police in tow.
Four districts having policemen as sprortsmen participating in games like Tug-of-War, Kabaddi, Volley ball and track events.
These 4 districts are chikkamagalur and 3 coastal districts of Kanara. The meet was inaugurated by the ever-busy Dakshina district, Dr.N.S. Channappa Gowda.
An inaugural parade of partiiapnts was held on the occasion, when DC took the Salute. An oath-taking drill was performed by parade commander Venkatesh. Then the DC let off pigeons to declare the meet open.
Prof. Dr. Nidarsh Hegde of Home Guards welcomed the gathering and introduced the events. He also informed that Home Guards formed the second line of Defence.
35 best sports persons of this meet go to state level meet. Dr. Hegde told participants that main goal of meet was performance.
