Mangalore: Senior Congress leader and former Suratkal MLA Vijaykumar Shetty has questioned the real motive behind organizing the Yuva Jagrithi Convention by the Yuva Morcha in Mangalore recently when as many as 123 taluks in the state were reeling under drought conditions.
Speaking to reporters in Mangalore, he said the Convention aimed at just misleading the youth and added many of the participants were not from the district but from other states. He also alleged that the main aim of the convention was to create a rift in the society. He also accused the state government of failing to keep up the promises made to the electorate.
On the MSEZ denotification row, Shetty said the denotification of land for MSEZ II Phase has hit hard those farmers who were willing to let their land. He also claimed that over 80 per cent farmers were ready to let land for the project.
