Mangalore: It was a tearful reunion with family members for 60 year old Daulat Ghan Bahadur at the White Doves Home at Jail Road in Mangalore.
Daulat who was mentally unstable and had abandoned home about six months ago, was noticed by White Doves Founder Corrine Rasquinha near Kadri and was taken to the Home where he was given proper treatment, despite his initial arrogance and non-co-operative nature. Daulat who gradually mended ways, informed White Doves authorities of his address and telephone numbers. The family at Maharashtra was contacted, but it could not arrive on time, due to abject poverty and due to floods in the village.
Finally, the family could make it on Sunday and arrived at White Doves Home and there was the tearful re-union of Daulat with his wife Indu, brother Kailash Ghan Bahadur and brother-in-law Vinayak Bharakshi. Indu revealed how Daulat went missing after they had a minor tiff and never returned.
White Doves also paid the family Rs 4000 towards travel expenses.
In another case, one Vittal from Bagalkot had also been rescued near Bejai Church. Then mentally ill, Vittal is now a hale and hearty man and White Doves was successful in reuniting him too with his family recently.
