Mangalore :
Yogish Bhat : Failed to find favor with Hindu voters
He tried to sail in two boats. Alienated Hindu voters by appeasing Muslims. His inauguration of a mosque and over familiarization with a Muslim Industrialist of Mangalore was the talk of the town. He has taken his electorate for granted. Just a folded hand does not work all the time. He projected himself as gentleman politician but people found him not worthy of their votes.
Palemar : He should introspect his own downfall
Palemar had clean image and non controversial political record until allegation of moral misconduct which dented his image.
Even though he is a secular, BJP infighting forced him to stay neutral in major policy decisions like home stay attack and church episode. He paid dearly for the folly of his party.
Chandrahas Ullal : Lack of personal rapport and miscalculation of cast equation reason for the heavy defeat.
He is no match to UT Khadar in public relation. A new entrant to active politics and little known in the constituency, he is not a original BJP but migrated from Congress. His proximity to RSS alienated vast majority of voters. The prevailing Strong Congress under current, lack of publicity coupled with anti Hindutva sentiments are responsible for the humiliating defeat of BJP candidate.
