New Delhi: Wikileaks exposures are not to be enjoyed as news stories in public, but only as sting operation that bite into the top politicians when they talk to American and UN Officials, inadvertently showing their lack of preparation during such unguarded diplomatic encounters.
The Indian leaders like P. Chidambaram and Man Mohan Singh (in Congress) Arun Jaitley and L.K.Advani (in BJP) hardly know the depths to which American diplomats like Hillary, Obama and their New Delhi embassy or state representatives who collect information on a strong India, from its present and past leaders in this 21st century.
The Hindu has had access to Wikileaks papers and has been leaking out what went on behind the stage in evolving Indo-American “Bhai-Bhai relations in the background of suspicious Chinese relationship with India, in its hegemonistic nature.
A cable in May 2005 reveals that Arun Jaitley told an American official, how Hinduism was opportunistic to capture power for BJP.
The Hindu (of saffron) nationalism was less resonant in peaceful times, when there was less cross-border attacks from Pakistan because BJP does not accept Pak nationalism (Sunni and Muslim). The opportunistic slogan on Hinduism helped collect votes from a disunited people, who unite in national disaster or threats.
An attack on Indian Parliament could also establish Hindu nationalism, where sovereign matter, he told the Americans who wired his comments to Washington, with their own spicy items.
Jaitley called Narendra Modi (the most powerful CM of Gujarat in India) as a polarizing personality arousing feelings of personal sacrifice among Gandhians and hatred among the frightened Muslims who had burnt Hindu Karasevakas at Godhra.
Jaitley in his present reaction has recalled the meeting of 2005. The cable by a US diplomat later had reflected his views, but the words used “opportunistic” and “polarizing” neither represented his language nor his views. The US diplomat had his own form of usage, Arun J. stated, in disbelief.
