Mangalore : The Philatelic and Numismatic Exhibition held by the members of the Dakshina Kannada Philatelic and Numismatic Association, today at Pandeshwara Post Head office.
Association Members was organized concerning Wild Life Week themes. Exhibition displayed stamps , coins and currencies pertaining to animals, birds etc.
Mr Daniel Monteior who has won many laurels at the National and International Philatelic Exhibitions displayed his collection on Sea Birds and one could learn so much about these lovely birds from his display which was colourful and meticulous.
Mr Prabakar Kamath, Secretary of the Association displayed some old era coins with animals and being a creative and artistic person displayed his skills by even drawing the animals on the coins on the cover so people could understand clearly re the legal tender of yester years.
Dr Lakshman prabhu a leading doctor of Mangalore had displayed his collection on Elephants on stamps and had done a tremendous job with the most minute details which left one and all spell bound.
Mrs Vidya Kishore Baglodi did a display on fauna (animals) on coins from around the world and currencies with animals. She had put in extra effort by digitalizing the pictures on coins and made it colourful for the eye and as also the details of flags, population, area, GDP, Currency details etc making it a treat to see.
The exhibition and display was appreciated by one and all and some children came with their parents and showed their enthusiasm to become perfectionist and requested members to guide them. The association is putting in its best efforts and encouraging one and all to preserve the history of India be it philately, numismatic or otherwise and shares its experience and knowledge with all the members and public to create awareness of our Indian and world heritage.
Senior Members like Mr Krishnayya,Mr Prabakar Kamath, Mr Pavanje, Mr Hebbar, Mr Jayaprakash, Mr Baikady S Rao, Mr Mukund Prabhu , Mr Mansoor, Mr Gopal, Mr Baliga , Mr Raghavendra Shenoy ,Mr Daniel Monteiro and all members are like guiding light to others in encouraging them.
The Next meeting will be in November and will have an exhibition to honour the Rajotsava Day.
