Mangalore : Member of the Legislative Council Ivan D’Souza said that after nominated and taking oath as MLC, he has raised 38 questions pertaining to the district, in just 28 days.
Speaking at the press meet held at Hotel Ocean Pearl on August 11, Monday, he said that he would give priority towards the Development of DK District and raised questions related to education.
He also said that he had demanded to form a teacher’s recruitment board to employ good teachers and happy to announce that government has agreed to the demand.
Ivan said that, he has urged the state government to cancel the present system Mid-day meal project for school children and give authority to the respective schools to note down the gender, caste of students benefitting from it.
He also said that city has 421 government quarters, in which 101 quarters are kept vacant. A total of 22 percent are in usable condition and the rest are called as Ghost quarters at Kunjath Bail, hence he has urged the government to demolish such quarters and establish new quarters.
Speaking on the Mathsyashraya Scheme, he said that government had released the amount of Rs 12 crore in 2011-12, Rs 5.3 crore in 2011-12 and 2012-13 to the Karnataka Fisheries development corporation and Mangalore and North Canara District co-operative fish marketing federation Karwar, which is the nodal agencies. Later these agencies will release the subsidy in 3 installments to the fishermen.
Ivan said that he aims to solve the problems of the people in the district.
Congress leaders Shasidhar Hegde, Mithun Rai, Kodijal Ibrahim, Ashith Pereira and others were also present at the press meet.
