Mangalore :  Sahana Kumari, an  immensely talented high jump player who has qualified for the London Olympics, is presently in Kirghistan for a training. What makes her selection to the Olympics more special for DK district, particularly Mangalore is that this ace athlete is an alumnus of Sri Gokarnanatheshwara College in Mangalore.

Today, Purushottam Poojari, Physical Education Teacher of Sri Gokarnanatheshwara College, is proud of his student who could make it to the Olympics. “ I knew this girl would  achieve big one day,” he recalls and adds even Sahana’s sister Harshini was a good athlete.

He also says Sahana had called him up  soon after getting qualified for Olympics and recalled how he had wished her to perform in Olympics, says Poojari  proudly.

Poojari also said Sahana  had even created a new meet record at the All India Inter-University level sports meet, years ago, when she was pursuing her degree course.
