Mangalore : Wilma Lavina D’Souza, noted Konkani writer, has been selected for the Kittall Yuva Puroskar-2012. The award will be conferred on her at a function to be held at Valencia Church Hall on March 2. The Award is being given by  Kittall.com, a Konkani site managed by Henry Mendonca who is popularly known as  HM Pernal.

The Awardee  is popularly known as Wilma Lavina and has several articles and poems to her credit. She is a first rank holder in MSc Mathematics and is presently teaching at Canara Engineering College, Benjanapadavu.

Wilma has also won the first prize in the  Rohan and Lavita Monterio All India Poetry Recitation competition organized by Kavita Trust this year She has also been on  the editorial board Diocesan monthly magazine Amcho Yuvak. Wilma has also served as editor of the magazine managed by the Konkani Sangha of St Aloysius College.

Wilma was selected for the award by a panel of judges including  Titus Noronha, Melwyn Rodrigues and Guru Baliga, poet. The Award carries a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a citation.
