Mangalore : A woman named Prema Amin (35), wife of Madhava of AIkala has died at the Wenlock Hospital on octobe r23, Wednesday a week after her derlivery at Lady Goschen Hospital. Her premature baby had died the same day of delivery.

Her family members have lodged a complaint  with Bunder police stating that  negligence of doctors in providing timely treatment had led to the death of the woman.Prema   was admitted to the hospital  a week ago when she had come for a check-up along with her husband. Doctors said she had high blood pressure and other complications needing treatment.

The premature baby died soon after delivery and Prema’s brother-in-law Vasanth Poojary said she lost conscious after she was  given some injection.

District medical officer Rajeshwari Devi  said the death was due to uncontrolled diabete, urinary tract infection and renal failure.

The family now wants a post-mortem in a private hospital.
