Mangalore: Three members of a family were found hanging from a tree at Kolnad village in Bantwal taluk on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Leela (60), her son Janardhan (47) and Jinnappa (40), all residents of Netla Chanila village in Golthamajalu in Vittal police station limits.

According to the information available, Leela had gone missing on Saturday and her sons Janardhan and Jinnappa’s attempt to find her on Saturday went futile.

However, on Sunday, the duo continued their search, but as they too did not return, others in the family started searching for all three, when they found the three hanging.

The reason for the extreme step is yet to be ascertained. Vittal police have registered a case of unnatural deaths.

Poovappa Shettigar-Leela couple had three sons and three daughters. While one daughter had passed away some time ago, two sons took the extreme step on Sunday. Jinnappa is unmarried.DH News
