Mangalore : Dr Malavika Kapur, Visiting Professor, National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore and former Head of the Department of Psychology at NIMHANS, Bangalore, inaugurated a four-day workshop on “Introduction to Therapeutic Counseling for Engineering Teachers ‘, organized by the Department of Counseling, Welfare, Training & Placement, NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte on July 9, Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kapur said psychologists need to undergo series of training in order to successfully treat the mentally weak. Describing a conscious mind as the first layer of the ice berg, she said the psychologists need to know the unconscious mind which is invisible.
Dr.Niranjan N.Chiplunkar, Principal of the institution, presided over the function.
Prof. Shalini K.Sharma, Head, Department of Counselling, Welfare, Training and Placement, . Dr.Sharada G.Prabhu and others spoke.Nearly 50 people mostly faculty from various engineering colleges from different parts of the state are participating in this workshop.
