Mangalore: Lions Governor MB Sadashiv has emphasized the need to hold programmes that kindle the spirit of patriotism among the younger generation.

He was speaking after inaugurating a day long  workshop on patriotism and national pride organized for school children at the Lions Seva Mandir in the city on July 26, Thursday to commemorate the Kargil Vijay Diwas. The programme was held under the aegis of Lions – Lioness- Leo Club, Centre for Integrated Learning and D K District Ex Servicemen Association.

The commemoration of Kargil Vijay Divas poster was released  by M B Sadashiv Rao on the occasion. Sergeant S M Iron was felicitated on the occasion.

Col N S Bhandary, who presided over the function, spoke on the valiant efforts put in by Indian soldiers in The Kargil war.

Geetha Rao, President of  Lioness Club, Mangalore Venugopal Shenoy, Regional  chairperson, President of Lions club Mangalore Dr Arvind Rao and Micheal and others were present.
