Mangalore: A day long workshop on prevention of drug abuse organized by Prajna Counseling Centre in Mangalore on July 2, Monday, saw a number of de-addicts sharing their experiences with the gathering. The workshop was organized with the cooperation of the Ministry of Social Justice and aimed at creating awareness in the society on the drastic consequences of drug abuse.
Speaking on the occasion, Hilda Rayappan, Director of Prajna Counseling Centre, said addiction has proved to be a bane to the younger generation. Pointing out that most youngsters take to drugs just to impress their peers, she said drugs however was not the only addiction. Youngsters even get addicted to TV, internet and mobile phones, she added.
She also spoke about increasing instances of drug abuse among women and said the youth should shun drugs and it is only then that the youth can prove real assets to the society.
