Mangalore: World Consumer Day celebrations were held at the Ravindra Kalabhavan of University College here on March 15, Friday. The programme held under the aegis of the district administration, Department of Food and Civil Supplies, District Federation of Consumers Organizations, Grahaka Sangha mattu Yojana Vedike and University College, was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner N Prakash.
In his address, the DC said there should be more awareness among rural consumers and that all consumer related grievances should be settled at the earliest.
Dr Lakshminarayana Bhatta, Principal of University College, presided over the function. Consumer Education certificates were awarded on the occasion to Govinda Dasa College, Suratkal, Government First Grade College, Kaup, Canara First Grade College and St Philomena College, Puttur.
Yashoda, Convenor of the Consumer Club of the Al Badria Composite Pre-University College, Krishnapura, secured the Best Convenor Award. Best Organiser award went to Al Badria College, Krishnapura, Suratkal.
Prof. TN Sridhar, Professor in Business Administration of Mangalore University, C Mallikarjuna, RTO, MP Ganesh of Weights and Measures Department, MG Salian of Federation of District Consumer Associations, Dr Sridhar Maniyani, Principal of Government First Grade College, Kavoor, Dr. Ramakrishna M.B , Assistant Director Consumer Cell Govt. College and others were present on the occasion.
