Mangaluru :  The Mangaluru City Corporation observed World Environment Day at Town hall on Monday, June5.

Mayor Kavitha Sanil inaugurated the event, on the occasion she distributed insurance policy of Rs 1 lakh along with health cards to the MCC civic workers.

Speaking on the occasion Mayor said, the Environment Day celebrations not be restricted June 5 only, but should be observed every day of the year.  As many as 1500 saplings will be planted in all the 60 wards of  Mangaluru next one year, she added.

She also asked the city residents to keep organic and inorganic waste separately from June 05, 2017 to handover the same to civic workers who visit houses for garbage collection. This is an one of the attempts to keep cleanliness in the city.
