Udupi: The sand-sculpture on beaches and wet sands began with an Odisha sand artist Sudarshan who won great laurels for India all over the world as it is a rare art. Subsequently, sand sculptors were discovered in Mangalore and Udupi in small groups on special occasions like festivals.
On World Health Day, also Good Friday and Hanuma Jayanthi Day, 3 artists of Manipal created a public awareness for Health with their sand sculpture impressions on Malpe beach, helped by a sponsorship of Udupi Radha Medicals.
Artists Srinath M.Venki palimar, and Ravi Hirebettu drew crowds to Malpe with their Sand art offerings.
They watched the sculpting process and the final product as well, in hundreds of keen eyes.
The sculptures began at 8.30 AM and finished by 3 o’clock in the afternoon to be viewed by thousands in the evening.
