Mangalore : State Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader inaugurated the World Literacy Day programme held at Nethravathi Hall of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat on September 13, Friday.
In his address, Khader said literacy is vital for the progress of every village. He stressed the need for all out efforts to reach the government programmes to target groups.
Several neo-literates shared their experience on the occasion.
Koragappa Naik, ZP President, Rithesh Shettyk, Vice President, Sheena Shetty, Ombudsman of Mahatma Gandhi Job Guarantee Scheme, GV Malleshapa, Secretary of District Literacy Council and others were present.
The programme was held under the aegis of the District Literacy Council, DK Zilla Panchayat, Jana Shikshana Trust, Apna Desh and other organizations.
