Udupi : World Population Day with the theme “Small Family Happiness All over” was observed in Udupi on July 11, Tuesday under the auspices of the Udupi Zilla Panchayat, District Health and Family Welfare Department and Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Inaugurating the programme, Udupi ZP Chief Katapady Shanker Poojari said he was happy that Udupi district had an enlightened population as far as the ill effects of population explosion were concerned.
Dr Ramachandra Bairy, District Health Officer however said the population of Udupi district was increasing rapidly and added very few men were going for population control measures.
The function was presided over by Jyothi Seetaram Shetty, Vice President of Udupi Zilla Panchayat. Bharathi Chandrashekhar, Vice President of Udupi CMC, District Health Awareness Officer D Sathyanarayana, Director of Sri Kshthra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project- Udupi Dugge Gowda and others were present on the occasion.
