Mangaluru: World Suicide Prevention Day – 2016 was observed at Mangaluru police commissioner’s office, under the theme of connect, communicate and care, on Friday. Health and family welfare department had organised the programme.
The programme was inaugurated by district health officer Dr Ramakrishna Rao.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Rao said that taking suicide decision is a temporary decision. When such people treated with love and care then may withdraw their decision.
“To treat the psychological disorders, support from family and society is also important along with medicine,” he said.
A J Hospital psychiatric department head Dr Raveesh Tunga said that when people succeed in bringing all the activities in equilibrium, then there will not be any problems.
“Depression is not the only reason behind committing suicide, it is one the reasons. When a person reserves 30-40 minutes for himself in a day, then there will not be any problems. When we succeed in managing the stress, we overcome from all the problems,” he added.
DCP Shantaraju, DCP Dr Sanjeev Patil and others were present.
