Mangalore: World TB Day was observed in Mangalore on March 24, Sunday through an awareness drive initiated by the Centre for Integrated Learning in association with Amala Bharat Campaign of Matha Amritanandamayi and Rotary Club of Mangalore. Deputy Speaker N Yogish Bhat distributed the awareness brochures to launch the awareness drive and the cleanliness drive at PVS Junction area. The specially designed TB Awareness poster which is endorsed by Indian Hockey legend Dhanraj Pillai is published by Mumbai based India Development Foundation (IDF).
Volunteers created awareness on the disease through posters. Students of Karnataka Ayurveda College and Srinivas Institute of Social Work, participated in the programme.
In his address, Bhat said there was a need to create greater awareness among the masses on TB.
Amruthanandamayi Mutt’s Mangalananda Swamini, Swamini Sandhaya from Amaruthapuri in Kerala, Sachitha Nandagopal, Executive Director of Centre for Integrated Learning, Dr Jeevaraj Sorake, Convener of ABC, Madhav Suvarna, President of Rotary Club of Mangalore were also present.
