Mangalore : The Mangalore Chapter of Youth against Corruption staged nationwide protest in front of DC Office on Aug 13, Monday against the hike in commodities by the central government and against the black money allegedly deposited abroad by Indians.
Addressing the protestors, Suvrath Kumar, state convener said that Union Home Minister P Chidambaram who has been in 2G Spectrum Scam must be arrested.
Deviprasad Shetty alleged that corrupt politicians, officials, industrialists and business tycoons in this country have deposited over Rs 400 lakh crore in Swiss banks, he said.
He also urged the cancellation of currency notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 to control the corruption in the country.
Speaking on the price hike, he said that government decision on price hike leads to corruption and put common people in trouble.
The protesters demanded the United Progressive Alliance government repatriate money stashed away in tax havens abroad.
The memorandum urged the union government to pass a resolution in the parliament to bring back hard earned money of Indians from Swiss banks.
