Bantwal: A Yakshagana artiste died in a road mishap near Narahari hill near Kalladka on Thursday February 4 night.

The deceased has been identified as Vasanta Kumar (26), a resident of Perla in Kasaragod district.

He is mechanic by profession. He had a Tyre shop in Vittla and member of Kateel Yakshagana troupe 2. After finishing his duty on Thursday evening, he was riding his bike towards Mangaluru, on his way to take part in a Yakshagana show to be held in Basrur in Kundapur taluk.

Sources said, in an attempt to overtake a bus at the Bolangadi curve In Melkar he hit it and feell on the road and crushed under the wheels of the bus. He died on Spot.
