Bangalore : After spending just a little over 12-hours in Bangalore central jail, former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa was rushed to a hospital after he complained of chest pain.
Karnataka Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda alongwith the state home and cabinet ministers visited BS Yeddyurappa on Sunday at Jayadeva Hospital and said Yeddyurappa was not keeping fine and was under observation.
“For the next 48 hours he will be put under observation by the doctors. He is very weak and can’t speak, ” said Gowda.
Former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa was rushed to the hospital late on Saturday night after he complained of chest pain. Yeddyurappa is undergoing treatment in the ICU of Jayadeva Hospital, doctors said.
This came within hours of him being arrested and being lodged at the central prison in Bangalore. Yeddyurappa surrendered on Saturday after a Special Lokayukta Court rejected his bail petition in two government land denotification cases.
Indicted by the state Lokayukta in a land scam, Yeddyurappa was remanded to seven days of judicial custody by the sessions court on Saturday. He will now seek bail from the Karnataka High Court on Monday.
But speculations are rife on the timing and admission of the former CM to a hospital within hours of his arrest.
Suresh Gowda, MLA, Karnataka BJP, said, “This is not a conspiracy or anything. Yeddyurappa is not feeling well so he has been admitted.”
But even as Yeddyurappa battles for his political survival, this time in the court of law his arrest has embarrassed the BJP no end.
LK Advani’s Rath Yatra against corruption reaches Karnataka just a fortnight from now. In the backdrop of Yeddyurappa’s arrest, the BJP patriarch may have to field a few tough queries on his own party’s track record on corruption.
