Mangalore: The Yenepoya Medical College Principal Dr. Ghulam Jilani Kadiri inaugurated the seminar on Essence of World Breast Feeding Week’, held at Besant Women’s College on July 3, Wednesday.
The event was organized Yenepoya University, Yenepoya Medical College, Department of Community Medicine and Besant Women’s College.
Speaking after inauguration he said that every mother who liked the Childs normal development must feed them with mother milk. The breast feeding gives a joy of bond between the baby and the mother and it benefits to both. The mother’s milk increases anti bodies in the baby, which will have the power to fight against the germs and infection. The cancer in women’s breast is found in women who do not feed their babies.

Speaking to the students at the technical session with the theme ‘Talk to me- Breast Feeding-3D Experience’, Dr Radha Y Aras, HOD, community Medicine, Yenepoya Medical College said that the mother must eat proper food, so that she can feed her baby the qualitative milk.
She stressed that it is current scientifically proved opinion that a newborn child has to be fed with its mother’s milk, in other words, for the child, breast-milk of its mother is the best nutritious food for upto 6 months, often going beyond to cure any of its diseases. The mothers have to know this need for certain, she confirmed.
She also said that breast feeding will have advantage to baby as well as the mother. When women feed her baby, the more of milk is produced and this is god’s gift. Feeding mother’s milk is more followed in our country; hence this culture must be preserved.
Later Dr Soudha Alam Nawaz, department of Yenepoya Hospital explained the technical way of giving the breast milk.
Later Manjula K T, principal of Besant Womens College welcomed the gathering and released the pamphlet on the occasion.
M Srinivas, department of Food and Nutrition, Government of Karnataka was present on the occasion.
