Mangalore : The young couple hailing from Suratkal has finally fallen into their own trap after all the high drama that they enacted keeping the police on tenterhooks for almost four days. Finally, the police have slapped a case against Srinivas Padakannaya and his wife Swathi for misleading the police.
Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh who spoke to presspersons in Mangalore on May 17, Thursday informed that Swathi had misled the cops by filing false complaint that her husband Srinivas had slipped and drowned in the Phalguni River, while they were passing on the road near KISCO at Kulur while giving way for another vehicle. However, it was four days of intensive search operations that led to nowhere and the body of Srinivas not to be found giving room for suspicion. When Padakannaya was spotted at Kundapur recently and brought to Suratkal and admitted to Padmavathi hospital by is father in-law, he again presented a cock and bull story as told by his wife that he was attacked by three who had come by a Tata Sumo vehicle, after getting him out of the river.
However, during investigations police realised that all this was a drama enacted by the couple, who were too scared by the financial losses incurred due to share business etc.
The couple is now cooling its heels behind bars after virtually taking the cops for a ride.
