Mangaluru: A 21-year-old young girl jumped into Phalguni River at Gurpur on Wednesday.
Yogini (21) daughter of Sundar Poojary of Matti is the woman who jumped into the river. As per polices’ statement the woman jumped at around 4 pm on Wednesday.
Bajpe police Inspector Nagaraj informed Mega Media News that the complaint was given by Yogini’s uncle. She was working as a helper in Blue Chip Company at Baikampady. Her colleagues have said that she went earlier on Wednesday, as she was not feeling well.
“Yogini’s uncle filed the complaint after noticing that she hasn’t reached home even after 4.30. Search operations are going on to find her,” said Inspector Nagaraj.
Search operations were conducted by the police and local people. But due to bad light they stopped the search operations after some time. Police have informed that the search operations will resume on Thursday morning.
Yogini’s uncle said that her behaviour was normal on Tuesday. Nothing unusual things happened on Tuesday or Wednesday. “I don’t know why she took this decision to end her life. She was a good girl,” he added.
Eye witnesses of the incident have said that the people who are present at the spot tried to help Yogini. Some jumped into the river in search of her. They also threw the rope near her, but she didn’t catch it.
Motive behind the extreme step is yet to be known. The body was not found till Thursday afternoon. Search operations are going on in Gurupura and Kavoor area.
Bajpe police have registered a case.
