Udupi:  The Young persons in love have to be bold to face life, and not cowardly to die. Even films do not show suicides, but here in Hejmadi on Monday night, fearing parents’ disapproval beforehand two young lovers jumped into a river Shambhavi River hand to die in a tragic way.

Dinesh(18) loved his own cousin Vanita(19) despite their age difference and being close relatives.

Dinesh’s father was a civic employee of Padubidri GP.. Vanita’s father similarly placed, was working in Uchila GP. Both were Koragas, a backward community. Both had elder brothers.

The couple were missing since Saturday(April 14), but parents did not complain to the police, and were not in the know of a love affair between the two close relatives. Vanita was expected to marry, which prompted them to elope and return with a guilty complex.

The fear of elders disapproval with a vehemence, ended their lives. The body of  Dinesh was found first on Monday night and Vanita’s on Tuesday morning after some search in the river.

The ‘Pro-life’ movement discourages such cowardly deaths, without any counseling in love matters.
