Puttur: A lady pedestrian was killed in a tragic accident, after the branch of a tree fell on her at Palike on Karvelu-Madattaru road in Biliyoor village near Uppinangady on August 4, Monday morning.

The deceased is identified as Shalini (35), wife of Gopal Naik from Kudtakumeru in Biliyoor village.

Reportedly, Shalini was going back to home from bidi branch located at Karvelu on Monday morning when the incident occurred. As Shalini’s brother-in-law saw her injured, immediately called Arogya Kavacha ambulance service. By the time she was taken to a hospital in Puttur, she was declared dead.

Shalini is survived by her husband, Gopal, daughter named Chaitanya, and son, Chetan.

Reportedly, the branch of the fallen tree had broken long time back and was found hanging these many days and as just fell down when Shalini was walking by the tree.

Uppinangady police have registered the case.
