Mangalore :  The  court has remanded to judicial custody a youth who has been accused of raping and robbing an old woman  at Saripalla in the outskirts of Mangalore.

The accused Nagesh (24), a resident of  Chikkaballapura who had barged into the house of Mary D’Souza (69) had  wielded knife at the woman and raped her after robbing her of valuables.

When the old woman raised a cry,  the local youth gathered and trapped Nagesh who was hiding in a bush. He had even discarded the stolen jewels on realizing that he will be trapped.

He was then handed over to the police.
