Mangalore: The DK district Youth Congress elections were held on Jan.10 at the DKCC premises when Mithun Rai was re elected as president and Luqman as vice president, and Nemiraj Shetty as general secretary for a new turn they got 534, 252and 185 votes respectively.

After the election, a small fight took place among losers in 2 groups and police had to intervene to establish peace at the venue.

Devikiran 100, Umar Farooq 85, Srihari 54, Bhoomi Ramachandra 42 and Mohammed Sadiq secured 33 votes.

The election for unit committee president for assembly constituencies was also held. Girish Alva was elected from Mangalore north, Chandrahasa from Moodbidri, Merryl Rego from Mangalore south, Mohammed Wahab from Sullia, Arshad from Puttur, Prashanth from Bantwal and Nazar from Mangalore got elected.

Mithun Rai was taken in a victory procession by his followers after the results were out.
