Udupi : The Youth Congress is up in arms against the BJP government which according to it has failed to provide a transparent administration and also to solve the pressing problems confronting the state. Youth Congress workers from Udupi and Kaup on May 17, Thursday organized a protest in front of the Udupi taluk office.
Speaking on the occasion, Youth Congress leader Amrith Shenoy, said the state has progressed only on the corruption front under the BJP government which has completely field in providing a good administration. He also condemned the state government moves to weaken the institution of Lokayukta.
He also accused the state government of failing to do anything for the betterment of the drought hit areas though the government has declared as many as 120 taluks as drought hit in the state.
The Congress has further alleged that several applications pertaining to old age and widow pensions were pending clearance and also that many senior citizens as well as physically handicapped too were deprived of pension. Steps were urged to set right the discrepancies.
A memorandum was also forwarded to the state government though the Tahsildar.
