Mangalore : In an incident that shocked the district, a woman  in  her late  60s was not only robbed but also raped by a 24 year old youth at Saripalla in Mangalore rural police station limits. The incident took place on July 14, Sunday night.

The accused was trapped by the locals on Monday morning and handed over to the police. He was identified as Nagesh *24) of Chintamani in Chkkaballapur. IT is said Nagesh worked in a construction site nearby the woman’s house where her daughter is constructing a house. On Sunday night when no one was around, he entered her home and robbed her jewels and also reportedly raped her.

Investigations are underway.
