Moodbidri : A youth identified as Mahesh (24) of Kotebagilu  in Marpady village, has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping a college student. The arrested is a labourer by profession.

It is learnt he came into contact with the 19 year old college student of Moodbidri after a mobile missed call. He, it is said had taken her jewels and had pledged it in  a  bank and later released the same and sold it. When the girl asked her jewels back, he told her to come to a beedi branch close by where he threatened and raped her.

It is alleged he had raped her at least five to six times by threatening in this fashion.

It is learnt, he was wanted in some theft cases too.
