Kundapur: In a tragic incident, a youth was killed after he was run over by a train at Kundabarandadi near here on Saturday.

Jagat Hegde (23) from Uudpi had put on headphones and was walking on the tracks. However, he failed to hear the train horn and was run over. After Engineering, Jagat was employed in Bengaluru.

Jagat had come to visit his grandmother. His grandmother used to often scold Jagat for walking on the tracks and had asked him not to do so. He left home on Saturday and told his grandmother that he would return in sometime.

A case stands registered.
