Mangaluru: “India showed to the entire world that war can be won without fighting and battlefields, it can be won through love and peace, said District Superintendent of Police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase.
He was speaking at a programme organised to mark the Kargil Vijay Diwas by Lions Club, Mangaluru at lions Seva Mandir, Mallikatte.
“Even after having highest number of youths in the country, we are lacking behind in achieving the greatest things. The number of Nobel laureates in India haven’t crossed single digit. We are not winning many medals in Olympics. Even after achieving lot of things in various fields, we haven’t achieved anything. The youth should take pledge to win medal for this country,” he said.
Lions Club District Governor Arun Shetty said that patriotism should be shown by living as a good citizen of this country.
“Patriotism starts from following the traffic rules. Respect all the rules and follow them. It shows the real patriotism,” he added.
Srikanth Shetty, Vasanth Kayarmar and Joachim D’Souza, ex-servicemen who served on Indian Air Force, Army and Navy were felicitated on the occasion.
Dakshina Kannada Ex-Servicemen’s Association President Vikram Datta, Sanchita Nandagopal from Centre for Integrated Learning, Col Bhandary and others were present.
