Speaking at a seminar organised by the Narayana Guru Vichara Kammata at Aloysius College here on Sunday he said, Narayanaguru led social reforms in Kerala and called upon the youth to follow the ideals of the seer by leading a simple life. One has to make a pledge not to spend lavishly for weddings, not to visit the temples which follow Varnashrama and to appoint priests from Billava community for religious rituals.
Mr. Mattu revealed that an intelligence official had informed him the RSS in a recent meeting in Karkala had discussed against him.
The meeting had been attended by a prominent RSS leader of the State.
Mr. Mattu said that he and other activists were facing the danger of being gunned down just like journalist Gauri Lankesh. “I do not fear death. But I am worrying about my uncompleted tasks,” he said.
He asked youngsters to follow the ideals of social reformer Narayana Guru who stood against Varnashrama, superstitious practices and oppression of backward class communities.
He asked senior Congress leader B. Janardhan Poojary to take the lead in spreading the message of Narayana Guru to every household.
Honourary president Yashvanth Maroli presided over the programme. St Aloysius College lecturer Dr Ganesh Amin Sankamar, navika general secretary Sunil Kumar Bajal, actor Rajashekhar Kotian and Mangalore University Narayanaguru Study Centre director Muddu Mudubelle were present.
