Mangalore : Language and culture are inter-related and if the language is strengthened then culture will be preserved and if culture grows, language will be protected said Konkani Sahitya Academy president Kasargod Chinna.
He was speaking after inaugurating the annual Felicitation and Award ceremony 2013-2014, organised by Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy held at Town Hall on May 18, Saturday.
He also said that at the present day, the young generations are not showing any interest in the field of Beary literature, hence it is the duty of senior scholars to take the responsibility to attract the young generation towards Beary literture.
Beary is a musical language, hence youths must be encouraged to bring out good beary literary works. Government is giving good facilities to all the academy of various languages and it is our responsibility to utilize it, he said.
The academy also awarded Mohammed Baddoor, Ismail Musliar, Dr B K Yusuf, Basheer Baikampady, Mohammed Chickmagalur and Razak Haji Harekala, while honoured Abdul Khader Haji, Charmadi Hasanabba, Zakaria Venoor, B M Mumtaz Ali and Dr Kaup Mohammed.
Beary Sahitya Academy president Rahim Uchil presided over the event.
MLA Moideen Bawa, Tulu Sahitya Academy registrar Chandrahas Rai, Kannada and Cultural department joint director B T Munirajayyaa and others were present.
