Mangalore: Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Chairperson Mr. Shailaja K.T. Bhat in formed on Tuesday in a meeting, that the annual project expenditure has been prepared at Rs.49 crores sought from the ruling government for 2012-13, she said.
CIO Dr. KNV Prakash explained that under the 1993 Act (Section 310), all urban/local panchayat bodies had to submit their action plans to district Planning Committee for approval and the Zilla Panchayat plan went to state Government for sanction.
The Zilla Panchayat planning committee had President, city major, city MP 15 zilla panchayat members with CEO as secretary. 8 MLAs, 3 MLCs and DK-DC are invitees. Such a committee meets every 3 months.
A zilla panchayat member, N K Menala proposed that Dakshina Kannada received heavy rains and it should have only concrete roads, not asphalted. The CEO directed officials to arrange for drinking water supply to 185 HP schools and to complete toilets construction by end of 2011. Road-filling works had commenced all over zilla panchayat areas at a cost of Rs. 13.50 crores, the CEO told the meeting.
