Mangalore: The Administrative Training Institute, Mysore organized a two day special training pogramme on ‘Improving Transparency and Accountability in Government through Effective Implementation of RTI Act-2005’ at Zilla Panchayath Auditorium on June 14, Tuesday.
ZP Additional CEO Shivarame Gowda inaugurated the event.
Speaking as the resource person on the occasion, Sairam Bhat, associate Professor, National Law School of India University, Bangalore, said that earlier eight state governments brought the Right o Information Act, but only Delhi Government implemented it.
He also said people can get information from Zilla Panchayath, Taluk Panchayath, Gram Panchayath, Central Government, State Government, Non Governmental Organization according to section 2 H of Right to Information Act.
An organization getting over Rs 25 lakh grant from the government must provide full information to the people if required within 30 days, where as the private sectors and NGO’s must give information in 40 days.
