Zilla and Taluk Panchayat electionsMangalore: The voting will be between 7 am and 5pm on a declared public holiday with a new year 2011 fast approaching on Saturday here> Schools remain closed.
The earlier you vote, the better, advise the booth keepers and local Election Commission officials.  Do not wait for any announcements. Latecomers could miss casting their votes.

Only 1300 voters can vote during the 10 hours given for voting, hence additional staff is employed where the line is longer. No new voting machines will be provided.
Zilla and Taluk Panchayat electionsAn Identity Card with photo of the voter is needed to enter the booth. Black ink mark will be made on one’s left-hand pointing finger before voting. There can be no impersonation and voter cannot be represented by another. Hence you see very old and sick voters take external help before actual voting. About 21 forms of Identity Cards are on circulation but only one such as driving card, PAN (Tax payment) card, ration card or office card, students card (above 18 years age) will be allowed at the entrance to vote.

Both DK and Udupi districts are ready for tomorrows basic democratic exercise. In DK, 5 taluks (Mangalore, Buntwal, Puttur, Sullia and Belthangady) have 92 TPs and 25 ZPs, which the police supervision is done. 728 voting booths are provided in these 5 talukas, where 101 are sensitive and 81 are super-sensitive needing care and control by the benevolent police, says Dr. A.S Rao SP. 1800 Policemen will be deployed to protest voters and to maintain law and order, he added. ASP Prabhakar was present in the press meet.
In the entire country, D.K dt supervised by Ports Ecology Minister Krishna Palemar has been a model district. Palemar is a socially committed BJP leader who has the blessings of local people to achieve something that does not harm the local culture and ecology.
A police Commissionerate was established this year in Mangalore. A Maritime Board has been established. With private partnership in public activities, ports and fishing have gone ahead with hectic development not seen before. Palemar  gives priority to drinking water supply all over dk. 91 temples have received Rs.2 crores each in one months Muzrai handling by J.K Palemar.
