Kundapur : Mani Gopal, a senior BJP leader and former chairman of Kundapur Urban Development Authority (KUDA) Mani Gopal, on April 10, Wednesday declared that he was quitting the primary membership o the party.
It is learnt, Mani Gopal is unhappy over the party leadership which failed to select him as a party candidate from Kundapur. He was one of the strong contenders from the constituency. A former Congress man, he was brought into the BJP fold by senior politician AG Kodgi. He had even contested the elections Kaup Sanjeev Shetty and Pratapchandra Shetty K as a Congress candidate in 1978 and JNP candidate in 1983 respectively.
It may be recalled here that the BJP had chosen Kishore Kumar as its candidate from Kundapur.
