Bangalore: Eminent social scientist and rural development Guru of Dharmasthala,
Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade was conferred the ‘Nadoja’ award by Governor H.R.Bhardwaj on Tuesday here. The Heggade, a Jain, is well-known all over India for his many achievements for the full or alround development of economically poor classes on the coastal belt. The award was instituted by Hampi (Kannada) University.
At the same time, film play-back singer, P.B. Sreenivas was also honoured as Nadoja award winner; which is an honourary doctorate degree.
Receiving the award and speaking on the occasion, Dr.Heggade informed that several Kannada manuscripts remained in safe places such as temples and monasteries, waiting to be brought out for modern attention. P.B.Srinivas recited a song on Dr. Rajkumar.
