Mangalore: The National Youth convention will be held in Mangalore during the second week of January 2012, said DK minister of Ports. Krishna Palemar. He was distributing sports kits to various groups of young persons in DK district at the Zilla Panchayat hall on Nov 21, Monday.
He understood that DK had many talented youths looking for suitable opportunities, support and equipments. Several youth groups had burning dreams and wanted to transform them into reality. The state govt. was only trying its level best to help them by providing several facilities like stadiums, pools kits and stages, Palemar observed.
The distribution programme was organised by the DK district administration with Zilla Panchayat and youth and sports dept.
Palemar indicated that 6000 youths from all over India, would participated in the national event due in Mangalore, in less than 2 months. He wanted local people to decorate the city to welcome them. City MLA N. Yogish Bhat speaking on the occasion referred to aspiring athletes here facing financial problems to uncover their abilities. The problem should be tackled by all pleaded. Zilla panchayat Chief K.T. Shailaja Bhat presided. 120 Youth groups received sports kits with materials, spending Rs.5,000 on each group. DC was present.
