Mangalore : The 17th district Kannada literary convention organized by Dakshina Kannada Zilla Kannada Sahithya Parishath (DKSSP) will be held at Alike Shree Sathya Sai Vidya grounds, at Alike village in Bantwal taluk on November 18 and 19.
Speaking at the press meet held at Hotel Woodlands, DKSSP president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said, around 5,000 people are expected to participate in the function
Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda will inaugurate the convention which is being organized at a cost of nearly Rs 3,00,000 . Thalthaje Vasantha Kumar will chair the Sammelan. Devananda Swamiji and Shashikanth Swamiji will deliver the benedictory speech on the occasion.
He also said that, the Sammelan will be held at the venue, which is located between the Karnataka and Kerala border, in order to promote Kannada literature and its activities.
District in-charge Minister Krishna J Palemar said that around 200 volunteers take the responsibility to overlook the function.
The two-day convention will also organize an art exhibition, book exhibition, poet’s meet, student-poet’s meet, and intellectual seminars. A procession portraying the Kannada literature will also be held.
Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji and Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr Dr Veerendra Heggade will grace the occasion at the valedictory ceremony.
