Mangalore : A two- day national level Commerce P.G Fest – ‘INNOVISION – 2014’ was inaugurated at the Besant women’s College auditorium on Jan.30, 2014.
The theme of the Fest was ‘Transforming the nation into a developed country, by working upon natural resources and talented manpower for integrated action to double the growth rate of GDP and to make India a developed country by 2020 as proposed by former Indian President Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam’.
‘Innovision’ was inaugurated by Sri. K Subba Naik, Senior Manager, Canara Bank, Mangalore. Addressing the gathering he said , because more students are opting for medical or engineering professions there is a great imbalance in the market. The commerce stream offers more opportunities and challenges. He observed, the banking sector needs more professionals and the latest development in commerce education in this part of the country is complementing this. He said that such competitions will enhance students’ confidence and favour their performance when they enter the industry.
Dr. Praveen Kumar K.C, the H.O.D of the Department of Commerce made the Keynote address. He said ‘Innovision’ is an effort to bring out newer ideas and innovative strategies for development.
Sri. Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy who presided over the function said “Such programmes help in polishing the managerial skills of future managers. Prof. Pushpalatha B K the Principal of the College welcomed earlier. Dr. Balaji Bhovi, Director Dept.of P.G Studies in Commerce, student co-ordinators, Nigel David and Sharmila S Shetty were on the stage. Sangeetha propose the vote of thanks.
19 teams have enrolled for the different competitions spread over two days.
The competitions are – Inception (Icebreaker), Equalizer (Human resource)
Facilitator (Finance), Brand Mediator (Marketing), The Eagle Eye (Best Manager)
