Mangaluru: According to a circular, 164 teachers have been promoted in Mysuru division, including 32 from Dakshina Kannada. They will assume their new role this week.

The promotion of eligible high school teachers to the position of headteacher typically occurs each December. Unfortunately, this process has been stalled for the past three years. In Dakshina Kannada, 32 teachers were under consideration for promotion, with five of them opting to decline the offer. The appointment of 32 teachers, nearly half of the high schools in the district still lack a permanent head. With 170 high schools in the district, the government is expected to conduct a second round of promotions to address these vacant positions.
