Bangalore: About 75% of Karnataka state areas are reeling under dry weather conditions in the absence of adequate rains. The Government has declared 70 taluks in 21 districts as drought stricken.
CM DVS Gowda presided on Tuesday over this meeting. The declaration is according to rules made in 2004 for dry areas.
The state has to approach the centre for help under such conditions. A sum of Rs 40 crores has been already released, as relief for various works in such areas in April(Rs11cr) and September(Rs 20crores).
The DCs have Rs 126 crores in their accounts, so there is no shortage of money to carry out works.
