Bangalore: The accent is on brining CM Sadananda Gowda down, as he is reported to be hobnobbing with another Gowda, MP and Supremo of JD-s and ignoring B.S. Yeddyurappa who thinks his (CM’s) scheduled period in power is up, and he should quit.
He (Yeddy) told the CM so directly last week, but his direct demand to step down, fell on deafears.
62 of MLAs out of 120 attended the dinner hosted by yeddy at his residence on Thursday noon (February 23) on Race Course road in city.
It looks as if caste politics has made its presence in Yeddy’s politicking exercises these days.
At the Gokak Lingayat meet, yeddy was kept out, but CM Gowda had partaken. Yeddy got angry for the rebuff from his own people when he thought he was the only leader of Laingayats.
He wanted Gowda to stand down but the “disciple” would not. So yeddy set up another leader Shettar as his chosen disciple but it was not a by poll as in Bellary or Udupi.
The meet at Yeddy’s has not ended and BJP national chief N. Gadkari, is nowhere in sight, as he has changed his tour timings to February 24 around noon to reach Bangalore to participate in a brain-storming (Chintan-Manthan) session in city of BJP MLAs.
In the triumvirate, Yeddy is now against Gowda and the fourth member, J.Shettar is with him. Both hope to drag down Gowda, and sideline KSE later.
The presence of 62 MLAs at lunch in his house, is no matter of flattery for Yeddy, as some had come there for a free lunch, and some talk in sharing power, pressmen believe.
Sadananda Gowda’s ‘Yummy-Chummy’ if any, with H.D. Devegowda, will not fortify him, but he may learn a trick or two, from the former CM/PM who is Hassan MP now, and well ahead in political twists.
Gowda came over to Mangalore to attend MU Convocation(Conferring Degrees) assembly on Thursday morning by helicopter, and left for Bangalore in the afternoon.
He did not attend Yeddy’s lunch for very obvious reasons, although “invited” Eshwarappa has attended the lunch, not to support Yeddy, but because it was a “lunch meet” at best.
From Coastal region, only Byndoor MLA attended, out of courtesy. There was no signature campaign either. The luncheon meeting has made no gains for the desperate ex-CM to gain power.
