Mangalore : Minister for Cooperation H.S. Mahadeva Prasad said that People of the state had never witnessed such kind of calamity ever before which place in Uttarkhand on June 15.
He was speaking after receiving the Uttarkhand Flood Relief Fund on the event held to hand over the Uttarkhand Flood Relief Fund and Scholarship distribution programme for the children of Navodaya Self Help Group member at TV Raman Pai Convention Hall on July 27, Saturday.
The event was jointly organized by South Canara District Central Co-Operative Bank Ltd jointly with All Co-operative association of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
He also said that various co-operative Banks and trusts have collected the amount of Rs 77 lakhs to help the flood victims. This kind of programme has been done in various places and will continue till August 15.
Minister said that Co-operative Banks are functioning without the influence of politics and just with the purpose of helping farmers and poor women’s. The Bank has completed the history of 98 years and moving towards Centenary celebration.
The people of the state looked for the change in rule and supported the Congress party with lot of expectation, now it is the duty of government to work hard and meet their expectation.
The Bank helps every unemployed woman to show their talent and ability to earn their living through various kinds of training provided by the Self Help groups. Further he assured to discuss to reduce the loan interest to these women under SHG’s in the assembly, he added.
B Ramanath Rai, Forest Minister and District in Charge minister handed over scholarship to the children of SHG members on the occasion. He said that Rajendra Kumar, president SCDCC Bank has made m effort to take Bank t the high level. Some of the Co-operative Banks works mora than national level Banks.
Presiding over the event, M N Rajendra Kumar, president of SCDCC Bank said that the amount of Rs 77 lakhs have been collected on the platform as the flood relief fund by various co-operative banks and associations.
He said that he has got a doctorate degree with the effort of bank and Navodaya SHG’s.
